One-Day Crowns

With advances in dentistry and technology, dentists can now use CAD/CAM technology to create restorations in a single appointment. These same-day crowns are made using a material that mimics the appearance of natural teeth. When Is a Crown Used?

Dental crowns are most commonly recommended to restore teeth after they have sustained significant decay or fractures, but they can also be an excellent choice for several other reasons. They are generally used to improve the appearance of the teeth, as well as restore their strength and function. 

If a tooth has a large filling or other restorations that no longer fit properly, the crown will help the entire restoration to stay in place. Crowns also hold a fixed bridge in place or cover dental implants. Crowns can be used to cover discolored teeth to improve their appearance, and they can even be used to change the tooth's shape.

How Is a Same-Day Crown Made?

Same-day crowns are made using CAD/CAM technology. The dentist will use a digital impression device to scan the teeth and create a better-fitting restoration for patients. The information is then sent to a computer in-office, where a machine fabricates the crown.
